Little dog – big cat!!  Most people think of a dog being larger than a cat, but not this time.   I was contacted by a client named Ginger who was interested in having a painting of her toy poodle, Jazzy,  and her boyfriend’s Ragdoll cat, Sebastian, sitting together.   She had a couple of separate photos of each pet alone, and Ginger told me Sebastian the cat was 1/3 larger than Jazzy.  The beauty of art is that I can create a portrait of the two animals, side by side, as though they are the best of buddies! Below is Ginger’s response after seeing her pastel painting of just that.   Thanks Ginger for the wonderful comment!

“OMG Lesley, you are amazing. I am crying already. What a wonderful picture of our kids. You’re right on target! Todd and I both love it!”

  1. Nice job Lesley.
I too do a number of custom pastel paintings. I was wondering what you charge for a ‘custom’, the sizes, etc. I just did a child’s portrait and sometimes I am stumped about what to charge. It certainly takes longer to capture the animal or person. If you don’t wish to reveal your price –that’s OK.

  2. Hi Johanna,
Thanks for the compliment. I have general prices and example of past pieces on my “commission a portrait” This particular piece was $675 for a 14×17″ and it was unframed. The shipping to them was an extra cost. What did you charge for your child’s portrait?

  3. When I found Leslie’s website and looked at her art, I knew I had found the artist to capture the true heart and soul of my little Jazzy girl. I wasn’t wrong. I just received the pastel painting this weekend, and can’t wait for it to be framed and on display. I lost Jazzy on April 1, 2015, and now I feel like she is truly back in the house with me. Thank you so much Leslie for capturing Jazzy, as well as our dear Sebbie who is still with us for now. They never in the world would’ve sat that close to one another for a picture, but I’m thrilled you put them together for us!
