This graphite portrait is one of the few that is privately owned by myself and a very important piece. Since we lost our sweet 14 and 1/2 year old dog to cancer this past December two new dogs have come into our lives. The golden retriever (who is actually cream colored) was at first fostered by us for my brother-in-laws family because they had to move to China for work and didn’t want to make the dog have to take such a long and tough trip. After a few months they came for a visit and saw that he was very happy and well adjusted in his new life. They decided at that point to let him stay with us forever. A happy ending indeed!
The other dog was with a very nice couple for the first couple months of her life. As she grew they realized she was a bit too energetic for them and decided to rehome her. A very tough decision, but sometimes the kindest for the dog. She is a vizsla and this breed is very, let me emphasis VERY energetic! Luckily having the retriever helps to burn up energy. The fact that I am a trainer doesn’t hurt either.
These dogs play everyday a few times and have ever since day one. After they play they often have a nap together. This portrait was done from a photo that I took during one of their naps. I call it “New Friends” because it was one of the first days after they met each other.
…the happy ending continues.

I love my daughters artwork. I received this portrait for Christmas 2010. I was amazed at how realistic the dogs looked. I able to hang it in my living room right away because it was already matted and framed. Everyday I sit with a cup of tea and look at the portrait of my granddogs.
I love you,
