This pastel painting of Ruby the Vizsla has a title of 32 Mph.  Why is this called 32 Mph?   It’s because that was the top speed of Ruby running to catch the little green ball!  Now you might ask, “How do you know that?”.  Well, this is our family dog, and my husband and I thought it would be fun to get a radar detector to track our dog at play… obviously we don’t have kids!  After seeing the original photo my husband took on his cell phone,  I thought it would make an interesting piece of art in pastel.  Her right foot is just hitting the ground as all her other feet are still in the air.  As you can see she is a very lean dog – even with four cups of high calorie food a day.  At 6 years old, she’s still a very high energy dog!  I wanted to be sure I illustrated her athletic anatomy as she is stretched out at the moment before the grasp.  I’m so impressed with her physical abilities as most of us are with our dogs. They are amazing animals!
