The Vallejo grandparents had previously commissioned portraits of their four cats (yes I do cats too) and decided their granddaughter should have a portrait of her special Yellow Labrador, Abbey. (watercolor & fine color pencil)

Zambonie, a Beagle mix, lives with four other dogs in a mansion on Lake Michigan. He was a bit camera shy when I was taking his picture. I love his soulful eyes. (watercolor & fine color pencil)
This Chihuahua, Poochie, is one of Zambonie’s brothers…a tiger in a tiny package. (watercolor & fine color pencil)
Japanese Chin, Maggie May’s owner wanted to surprise his wife for Christmas. One thing he insisted on was that Maggie’s tongue must be sticking out. I received an email from his wife who was thrilled with the result! (Look for it in my testimonials) (watercolor & fine color pencil)
I thought this dog Luther was so handsome I did two portraits from different angles. It was fascinating that his coat color appears to change from taupe indoors to grey outdoors. The Weimaraner breed’s nickname is “ghost dog”. (watercolor & fine color pencil)

A gift from the wife to her husband. (watercolor & fine color pencil)

I came across a lady walking her and her son’s dog Odie, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, in a field where I walk my dogs. After chatting, the woman decided to arrange for a portrait for her son. What a nice Christmas gift. (watercolor & fine color pencil)
A woman wanted to surprise her best friend with a portrait of the friend’s Tibetan Spaniel dog, Luke, for her 50th Birthday party. The woman had to sneak his photo out of a frame, make a copy, and return it before her friend knew it was missing. The surprise was a success! (watercolor & fine color pencil)
Foreman, a Blue Heeler, and his owner were enrolled in my dog training class. I loved his “old man” personality. What a gentle spirit. He now works with special needs children. (watercolor & fine color pencil)
Color pencil and watercolor, golden retriever
This guy Mauser, a Drahthaar, is an incredible duck hunting dog for his owner. Besides being a sound dog in the field, he is a cherished companion in the house, and even gets an equal share of space in the owner’s bed – I love it! (watercolor & fine color pencil)
Ruby – Viszla done in Conte. This was a piece presented at a fund raiser for Petaluma Animal Shelter to help raise money for the foundation. The “winner” of the bid was able to have his own dog done in an original piece. He chose graphite for his dog “Rocky” and adorable PVBG.
